Canyon
- Name: The Nimprou 's Canyon
- Location: Georgioupoli
- Description: Nimros Gorge. It stretches for about 6-7 km and is
one of the narrowest and deepest gorges encountered in the region.
In places, its walls stand 2 m apart and attain a depth of 300 m,
while elsewhere they converge, thus, blocking the sky from view. Cypresses,
holm-oaks and other trees abound in the area. The motor road leading
to Chora Sfakion threads the gorge.

- Location: Paleohora
- Description: The Small Gorge Of Anidri-Gianiskari extends along
a 30-min route.

- Description: A gorge lies between Anopolis and Aradena (The Anopolis-Aradena
Gorge), ending at the Dialiskari beach (in total it measures 7 km
long).

- Description: The lushly vegetated Agia Irini Gorge ends at the beach
of Souyia (its extends along a 4-hour-route). From Agia Irini, the
road leads in 12 km to Omalos.
- Name: The Eleutherios Benizelos Canyon
- Location: Theriso
- Description: The Imposing Eleftherios Venizelos Gorge links the
village to Chania. The road runs through this gorge that once served
as the "headquarters" of Cretan revolutionaries.

reaching 400 m in depth lies in proximity to the village.
- Name: The Topoliano Canyon
- Location: Topolia
- Description: Topoliano Gorge. Measuring 1.500 m in length, this
gorge is characterized by vertical, precipitous slopes riddled with
cavernous openings, one of which is the explored cave of Agia Sofia
rising at 80 m to the right of the road that threads the gorge. The
cave features rich displays of stalagmites and stalactites that have
assumed through time spectacular shapes. The Agia Sofia Cave is a
site of considerable archaeological interest, as well, for it has
yielded potsherds that date to the Neolithic period.

- Location: Agia Marina
- Description: Nerospilias Cave located 1,5 km away from Chania features
stalactites and stalagmites. The cave constituted a place of worship
during the Middle Minoan period.
- Name: Kourna
- Location: Georgioupoli
- Description: Kournas Cave occupies the site known as Keratides,
south of Lake Kourna. Discovered in 1961, the cave is crammed with
fine rock formations (stalactites, stalagmites, many columns).
- Name: Xarakas
- Location: Paleochora
- Description: Zoures Caves and Charakas Cave are situated adjacent
to the village of Azogyres. They were home to 99 holy fathers who
had come from Egypt, Cyprus and Attalia via the island Gavdos in 1300,
in order to lead an ascetic life. Here visitors can see the "Museum
of Nature" dominated by a unique evergreen plane-tree.

Davaras revealed that the cult of goddess Artemis was practiced here
